ABOUT THE CLUB
Have you ever considered getting involved with a Nederlandse Kooikerhondje breed club? Getting involved is a great way to make new friends, attend fun events, and find out about training opportunities in the Texas-Oklahoma region. Our members are committed to preserving the history and expanding the future of the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje.
The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje Club of Texoma is dedicated to the education, training, care, and overall well-being of the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje. Some of our members have been in the breed for decades. We have specialists willing to share advice about health and wellness issues, or teach about Kooiker pedigrees from around the world. We have members with expanded knowledge about conformation who can give advice about training Kooikers for presentation and dog show etiquette as well as performance sports such as obedience, rally, agility, and scent work.
The most important thing our club does is promote responsible dog ownership, breeding practices, and provide information to prospective puppy buyers. Nederlandse Kooikerhondje are a rare breed. They are adorable dogs, but also smart, active, and a breed that enjoys working. It is essential that people know what to expect should they choose a Nederlandse Kooikerhondje.
Our club follows the American Kennel Club (AKC) Code of Sportsmanship and Civility.
As an AKC club the objective of the NKCT is to do all that is possible to preserve and perfect the natural qualities of the purebred Kooikerhondje, urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the AKC and to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike conduct at dog events and conduct sanctioned and licensed specialty shows, performance sports, and educational events.
There are multiple types of memberships open to all persons who are in good standing with the AKC.
Meetings are held via zoom and/or in person in the Greater Austin area.
