ACQUIRING A KOOIKER
Are they a serious hobby breeder who is concerned about preserving the Nederlandse Kooikerhondje breed or is the breeder trying to make a business from selling puppies?
A multi-purpose farm dog, the Kooikerhondje's sensitive, intelligent nature makes them an ideal match for the right person. However, as a sporting breed they can be energetic when young and may not be a good match for someone looking for a low energy companion.
The Nederlandse Kooikerhondje Club of the USA (NKCUSA) currently recommends that the sire and dam of a litter be tested for vWD, ENM, PM, patellar luxation, eye disease, and hip dysplasia, at a minimum. It is recommended that you always verify health testing on the OFA website.
